Dear members,
The golfing season is now well and truly upon us, with the first Major of the year coming just after our first official members competition! This year we have responded to feedback we received last year in your member surveys, and will be introducing regular prizegivings, booked competition tee times, and a variety of days and times that competitions will be played over; add to that new formats throughout the year, and I think we should have something for everyone. Of course we are always interested in hearing your opinions on how you feel we are looking after you as members, so feel free to discuss this with any of our golf team. The event calendar is available from the golf shop or in the locker room, so make sure you get signed up quickly to avoid disappointment.
The newest event to sign up for will be 'Beat The Pro' on the 24th of April; a Texas Scramble event for teams of players to take on some of the Pro's on the team! We hope to see you there.
Membership renewals for annual members have been the hot topic for Brad and the team this past month, and member voucher packs are now available from the golf shop once you are signed up for the 2016/2017 season. The new member handbook is currently being printed, so they will be hot off the press by next week.
We wish you all the best of luck and happy golfing for the coming year.
Is your strike the reason for your inconsistent drives?
By Lee Morrisroe
Strike is a hugely important factor to the direction the ball starts, finishes and the curvature that is imparted in the ball. On Trackman, even if the club path is 0.0 and the face angle is 0.0 to the target line this can still produce a slice or a hook. This is due to the study of Gear effect.
What is Gear effect?
Gear effect is the term used to explain how and why hitting the ball everywhere other than the centre of the clubface changes the ball flight. When the ball is struck from somewhere other than the centre of the face, it causes the face to change its orientation and affects the spin. This is due to the fact that during impact the ball and face are enmeshed like two gears.
