We had two competitions last weekend at Oulton Hall. We had the BMW PGA Bogey Competition on Saturday and the BMW PGA Championship Medal on Sunday. Both had great turnouts. 

Congratulations to Cameron Owen for winning Division one with a nett 68 on Saturday. The winner in Division 2 was Jon Helme with a nett 69. 

On Sunday the winner in Division one was Ryan Beach and the winner in Division 2 was David Armstrong.

The Club Championship is not far away..

Aidan is an assistant PGA Professional, and will soon have completed his 1st year of the PGA Degree at The Belfry. 

Aidan’s journey to become a professional golfer is certainly a lot different to others. Taking up golf at the age of 13, Aidan grew up playing here at Oulton Hall Golf Club. In 2009 after battling illness Aidan become attached to the Dreamflight charity where he has represented them in numerous events across the country and most recently in March 2015 at Lake Nona in Orlando where he was made an ambassador for the charity. Aidan has appeared on Sky Sports and the Golf Channel over the years to talk about his journey to become a professional golfer. Later in November 2015 Aidan was given a fantastic opportunity to tee it up a long side the world’s best at the Turkish Airlines Open Pro-Am on the European Tour where he gained some fantastic experience. 

After starting out as a 25 handicapper, winning numerous junior and amateur events over the years including the Oulton Hall Club Championship, Aidan turned professional in October 2015 off a handicap of 1. 

While completing his PGA studies, Aidan become a member of the Oulton Hall Academy team in early 2016, providing a specialist custom fitting service using the latest Trackman technology.

Wood a winner at Wentworth 

Has a nice ring to it doesn't it, especially for a certain young man from Bristol?

All the talk ahead of the European Tour's flagship event had been pretty negative, with a whole host of top names dropping out of the BMW PGA Championship for one reason or another. There was no Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy or Justin Rose, to name but a few, but we were treated to quite some finale, with Chris Wood coming from off the pace to claim the most significant tournament of his career.

'Woody' gave his own masterclass on ball-striking as he went out in a record-equalling 29 shots at Wentworth - and despite wobbling on the back nine, the 28-year-old held on to win by one stroke from Rikard Karlberg.

The win earned Wood £833,330 and put him into Ryder Cup contention, not a bad week's work.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic, Jordan Spieth fired a final-round 65 to win the Colonial National Invitational by three shots.

This now means that the top three players in the world, Jason Day, Spieth and McIlroy, go into this week's Memorial tournament having won their last events.

Looking ahead though, how nicely is the US Open at Oakmont shaping up? Lots to look forward to…
