Q Event Held at Oulton Hall 

The team of: Lee Welsh, Russ Crapper, Michael Russell and John Bell took 1st place last year at Forest Pines Hotel so it's with great pleasure that we are able to host it this year at Oulton Hall. 

The committee and other members from the other Q venues will be playing this month on the 31st August against 4 of our selected members.

Tuesday Night Roll Up 

Just to remind all members that we have a Tuesday night roll up every week. We have a small entry fee with a good amount of members entering. The roll up doesn't require you booking on just turn up and play 19-27.

Amateurs or pros? 

Welcome to this week's newsletter. By the time you read this a few medals will have been handed out already in Rio - but who's going to take home Olympic gold in the golf?

The build-up to Rio - in terms of the golf - was dominated by many of the game's biggest stars dropping out, and these players have all received a lot of criticism for doing so.

Was the Zika virus a convenient excuse? Can today's elite stars be forgiven for skipping the Games because of their hectic schedules? Where does an Olympic gold medal stack up against a Green Jacket or Claret Jug?

Whatever your opinion, it has raised the question as to whether amateur golfers should have been targeted to represent the sport in Rio, rather than professionals.

It's a discussion that will rumble on. In the meantime, let's see how those who are playing get on. When the medal ceremony does take place, we wonder whether any of those who did decide to withdraw will regret their decision. Just a thought…
