Club face is king for ball control!
Modern technology has taught us precious little about ball flight laws that teaching Pro’s who’ve spent hours in trenches didn’t know. I lost count in my early days of the number of times i stood there on the practice ground scratching my head wondering why the ball started right when i could clearly see the club swinging left through impact or vice versa. Eventually I worked out the club face at impact was the dominating force in where the ball starts its flight. It is also, as we have preached for years the major force on whether it flies straight and ultimately where it finishes.

Why general fitness can be detrimental to your golf game!!
Many golfers hit the gym regularly in a bid to potentially help their golf game, whether it is to gain more muscle to add yards to that driver or to improve their cardiovascular system to allow for more energy throughout a 4 hour round.
The questions I ask are….. How will running on a treadmill for 30 minutes help your golf game? Or how will 30kg bicep curls help your golf game? The answer to these questions is that it is more likely to hinder your performance on the golf course, rather than improve it. You now ask me why? A common misconception amongst golfers and fitness professionals is that golf is an endurance sport. Yes you do walk on average 5 to 6 miles per round, yet the 70-90 shots that you hit during that 5 mile walk are explosive and powerful movements. We should therefore be training for this, as it is the swing mechanics and how well your body can control this explosive action that will determine how you perform on the golf course.

Golfing Mindsets
Picture this! It’s Saturday morning and you find yourself stood on the 7th fairway. Having played strictly average so far you are now faced with a straightforward 2nd shot to the green. With 148 yards to go to the front edge this should be simple enough, right?
It’s likely that you just reacted in one of two ways – and at the risk of over generalising; your reaction probably gives a great insight into your golfing mindset. You see, mindsets are a funny thing. Take the brain for example, one of natures least understood creations; a complex and intricate system of around 100,000,000,000 (One Hundred BILLION) neurons each with between 1000-10,000 connections to around a quadrillion synapses – good look firing just the ones you need at the right time!

Slicers no more! ‘The secret P’s’
Two of our latest ‘converted slicers’ have been making great progress in early 2015. Tom Williams, coached by Thomas Devine, first came for lessons in August last year with an excessive ‘out to in’ swing path, encouraging repeated slice shots. At the time, Williams sat down with coach Thomas and devised a development plan to help structure his practice, whilst providing goals and motivation to succeed. Naturally, there was initially an uncomfortable change to make, however persistence certainly paid off and in early winter Tom was starting to see dramatic changes in his swing and most importantly his ball flight! As we now head towards the spring season, Tom has completely changed his swing from only 5 months ago and both coach and player are delighted to be seeing more draws than slices!

Introducing the new Nike Vapor Drivers
On the 1st February 2015 Nike will be releasing the eagerly anticipated Nike Vapor series. I have already introduced the Nike Vapor Iron family and its now time to introduce not just the driver, but the three drivers Nike have created. The flex, pro and speed.
he Nike Vapor Flex driver is Nikes flagship model boasting the new flex flight technology. This technology allows you to create the optimum launch angle for every variety of golf swing. This technology also allows weight to be moved low, backwards and forwards within the head, changing launch angle, spin rate, forgiveness and workability.
