The New TaylorMade R15
If you are the kind of person that likes to tinker with the loft and weight of your driver, look no further than the R15. The R15 series comes complete with two 12.5-gram sliding weights (25 grams total). Shifting weights to the heel and toe will increase the club’s overall forgiveness, moving one of the weights to the heel and positioning the other one in the center adds draw bias or fade bias, making this driver an ideal addition to anyones bag.

Lloyd lands a treble!
Taylor Lloyd hit the treble in last Sunday’s FUEL Golf Junior Competition, winning his third Junior Competition in succession. Lloyd, who has only been playing the game for less than a year, shot an incredible 3 under par around our 5 hole appropriate length golf course. Despite shooting a very good level par, Matt Bridge was left to take 2nd place in the 9-12 year old competition.
In the 6-8 years category, first place was secured by Ben Waite who scored an impressive one over par 21. 6 year old Oliver Strang took second place with a total of 25 shots, whilst Oliver Whittleston was only one shot behind with a very good 26 shots.

Golf – More than just a swing
I often get asked is golf more physical or mental? For me personally it’s more physical. Why? Well unless you’re called Matilda, that ball isn’t going to move unless you physically hit it with something. But that’s too obvious right? For me the problem lies in the wording of the question, “is golf more physical or mental?”; it’s a bit ambiguous. How long is a piece of string?
Let’s break “golf” down into a bit more detail. It’s a series of (preferably) 70-ish shots interspersed with a bit of walking. You tee off on a nice short par 4, it’s a good shot and you’ve got 110yds to the front edge. You arrive at your ball and it’s your turn. Now lets go a little deeper and break the sequence down and look at what is now required before the ball leaves the club face again… and there are 4 areas to consider!

You’re never too old to improve your golf!
As many golfers hit their 50’s and 60’s they resign themselves to the fact that their golfing ability and performance is on the decline. They have lost 10 yards with every club in their bag, they are generating less club head speed and their swing feels stiff and less functional due to decreased mobility. These are all common areas of decline, observed in the aging golfers game.
These characteristics are to be expected when we consider the typical effects of aging on our bodies and in particularly our muscles. Research has found that up to a 50% decrease in muscle mass is seen between the ages of 20 and 50, amongst those with a sedentary lifestyle. It has also been found that on average we lose 30% of our body strength between 50 and 70. These two statistical facts provide a good basis to suggest that an aging golfer will therefore naturally see a decrease in club head speed and distance due to the decline in muscle mass and capabilities.
