- Great putting drills used by Jordan Spieth
By Lee Morrisroe, PGA Teaching Professional, Oulton Hall
The 2015 Masters, US Open and FEDEX Cup Champion, Jordan Spieth is currently one of the best putters on the planet at this moment. Putting arguably won him the Masters and US Open. He is currently ranked high in the world in stokes gained putting. In this article I am going to explain a couple of drills that Jordan uses to improve his short and long putting.
Jordan Spieth finds two holes that are a decent distance apart, around 40 feet. He places a club or an alignment stick 3 feet past the back edge of both holes. This is the safety zone that all putts must finish in if they don’t go in the hole. (He is confident he wont miss the returning putt from inside the zone)

- How to lower your weekend scores
by Thomas Devine, PGA Teaching Professional, Oulton Hall
One thing that I hear many times from players is that “I striped it on the range but I can never perform and shoot low scores on the course”. This is an epidemic in club golfers and before we continue, let me just ask if your last range session looked something like the below?
- Hitting multiple balls to the same target
- Quickly forgetting when you hit a bad one and tee up another one
- Blasting driver as far as you can with a 200 yard wide gap to hit at
- Hitting balls whilst casually chatting to your mate without a stress in the world
If you are similar to the average club golfer, you will be familiar with the above. The unfortunate thing, however, is that we CAN often expect to get better at what we practice.

By Mark Pearson, Academy Director, QHotels Golf Academies.
With the PGA European Tour School kicking off tomorrow for its 6 round marathon at PGA Catalunya in Spain and 156 players looking for the final 25 spots on the 2016 PGA european Tour I thought I would take a look a the key ingredients players need to be able to graduate to the lofty height of holding that all elusive Tour Card.
Over the last 20 years as a coach I’ve been lucky enough to work with a good number of European Tour players and helped around a dozen players graduate from the lower ranks to gaining the big bucks tour starts. Throughout that period my thoughts on what is required from my players to cut it on tour have evolved but here and in no particular order are the key ingredients I believe they require

- Suck up more putts
By Matthew Turnock, PGA Teaching Professional
In this article I’m going to show you how an everyday household item can help you potentially save you 2 to 3 stokes.
I see a lot of Amateur players missing short (3 feet) to medium (6 to 10 feet) length putts due to number of reasons but the two most common tendencies I encounter are poor AIM with the putter face at address and secondly a varying PATH of the putter through impact (i.e. out to in / in to out coming across the ball)
By following a few simple drills you can dramatically increase your chances of holing more short to mid length putts and potentially gain vital strokes off your score.
