Dear valued member, 

Its been a fantastic first couple of weeks for me since joining the team at Oulton Hall, and I would like to thank all of you who have taken the time to come by the Club during my short tenure and introduce yourselves. We are also very grateful to those members who took their time to complete the survey, which provided some great feedback and insight which will of course be crucial to us in moving the Club forwards. 

Along with improving the overall golf experience for all of our players over the coming months, we are going to focus on ensuring that we are protecting and adding value to your membership in many ways. The first step on the road to accomplish our goals, is to ensure we know who is playing the course, and the times that are most in demand, so that we can make the most effective use of our beautiful 27 holes on offer, whilst giving you easy access when you would like it. 

In light of this, if I could kindly ask you to ensure that your group is checked in at the golf shop prior to play, it will help our Player Assistants - who will be more visible at peak times - to be more effective in the role they are tasked with. I realise this may cause a little inconvenience to those who like to get onto the course quickly, but this process will certainly benefit you as members, and also give us a chance to say hello before you start your round! 

And finally, talking of coming into the golf shop, remember to pass by this weekend, as we will be extending the Black Friday sales throughout the weekend, offering unbeatable deals on everything from balls to clubs, so a great chance to treat yourself, or pick up some pre-Christmas discounts. We are also looking forward to seeing you at the Members Christmas party on the 13th of December, which is registered for in the Spa Reception.

How to fail a child

Over the past few weekends we have been grading many children who are enrolled on the FUEL junior golf programme, the gradings can lead to extreme highs for the children who manage to achieve their caps, and extreme lows if they don’t. Failing gradings often results in tears for the children, and this article will help to explain how these failures are an essential part of their development and how shielding children away from failures can have a very negative impact on a childs mindset growing up. 

As a parent I can only imagine how hard it must be to see your child in tears over an event which is meant to be a joyous occasion and it is only natural for a parent to want to shield them away from a situation which you know could upset them if they don’t quite achieve their goals. However only ever exposing your child to success can be truly harmful for their development and severely damage their mindset growing up.
